Safety & Welfare Policy

My Wedding Sitter Ltd (trading as My Wedding and Event Sitter)
Last Updated: January 2026

  1. About us

My Wedding Sitter Ltd (referred to throughout this website and related policies as “My Wedding and Event Sitter”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a company registered in England and Wales.

We operate an online booking and matching platform connecting parents and event organisers with independent babysitters for weddings and events.

  1. Our commitment to safety and welfare

My Wedding and Event Sitter is committed to promoting the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of both children and babysitters using our platform. While we operate solely as a booking and matching platform, we recognise the importance of clear guidance, sensible boundaries, and transparent processes when it comes to wedding and event childcare.

This policy sets out the expectations, guidance, and measures in place to support safe, respectful, and well-managed bookings.

  1. Our role as a platform

My Wedding and Event Sitter:

  • Operates as an introduction and booking platform only
  • Does not employ babysitters
  • Does not supervise or manage childcare during bookings
  • Does not replace parental responsibility

Babysitters operate independently, and parents remain responsible for their children at all times.

  1. Check-in and check-out process

To support safety, transparency, and accurate record-keeping:

  • Babysitters are required to check in via the platform when they arrive at a booking.
  • Babysitters must check out when the booking has ended and they leave the venue or accommodation.

This process helps to:

  • Confirm booking start and end times
  • Provide reassurance to parents
  • Support accurate payment processing
  • Maintain a clear record of completed bookings

Failure to check in or out may affect payment processing and may be reviewed as part of continued platform use.

  1. Babysitter welfare, breaks, and working hours

Wedding and event bookings may involve long or late hours. Babysitters are encouraged to:

  • Only accept bookings they feel comfortable and capable of completing
  • Take appropriate rest breaks during longer bookings where possible
  • Discuss break arrangements with parents in advance

As babysitters are not employees of My Wedding and Event Sitter, statutory working time rules are provided as guidance only. Parents and babysitters are responsible for agreeing suitable arrangements.

  1. Respectful behaviour and zero tolerance

My Wedding and Event Sitter operates a zero-tolerance approach to:

  • Harassment or bullying
  • Discrimination of any kind
  • Verbal abuse
  • Physical violence
  • Sexual harassment or inappropriate behaviour

This applies to babysitters, parents, guests, and event attendees. Serious incidents may result in suspension or removal from the platform and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

  1. Child safety and safeguarding concerns

Babysitters must prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.

If a babysitter has concerns about a child’s welfare:

  • Concerns should be raised with the parent or event organiser where appropriate
  • If there is immediate risk, emergency services should be contacted
  • My Wedding and Event Sitter should be informed after the situation is safe

My Wedding and Event Sitter is not a safeguarding authority but may review concerns in line with platform policies.

  1. Illness, injury, and emergencies

Parents are responsible for providing:

  • Emergency contact details
  • Relevant medical information
  • Clear care instructions

Babysitters should:

  • Follow parent instructions
  • Seek medical assistance or emergency services where required
  • Inform parents as soon as reasonably possible

Any incidents should be reported to My Wedding and Event Sitter following the booking.

  1. Intoxication and unsafe collection of children

If a parent, guardian, or designated collector arrives and appears clearly under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and is unable to safely care for a child:

  • Babysitters should prioritise the child’s safety
  • Another responsible adult listed by the parent should be contacted
  • Emergency services may be contacted if there is immediate risk

Babysitters should inform My Wedding and Event Sitter once the situation is safe and are not expected to place themselves at risk.

  1. Safe environments and venue responsibility

Babysitters are responsible for supervising children but are not responsible for venue safety.

Parents and event organisers are responsible for ensuring:

  • Suitable and safe environments
  • Appropriate facilities and equipment

Concerns about unsafe conditions should be raised with the parent or organiser.

  1. Transport and travel

Babysitters are not expected to transport children unless:

  • Explicitly agreed in advance
  • The babysitter is comfortable doing so
  • The babysitter holds appropriate insurance

My Wedding and Event Sitter does not arrange or insure transport.

  1. Food, breaks, and dietary considerations

Parents are responsible for providing food and essentials for children.

Babysitters:

  • Should not assume food will be provided
  • Are advised to bring their own food if needed
  • Should confirm any agreed meals in advance

If food is provided, dietary requirements should be discussed directly between parents and babysitters.

  1. Medication

Babysitters are not required to administer medication.

Medication should only be administered if:

  • The babysitter is comfortable doing so
  • Clear instructions are provided
  • Medication is supplied by the parent

Babysitters should record when medication is administered. If a babysitter declines, parents must arrange an alternative.

  1. Photography and privacy

Babysitters should:

  • Avoid taking photographs of children
  • Never share images of children on social media
  • Only take photos with explicit parental consent

Venue or scenery photos are acceptable where no children are identifiable.

  1. Reporting concerns and platform action

Parents and babysitters may report concerns to My Wedding and Event Sitter.

We reserve the right to:

  • Investigate concerns
  • Temporarily suspend accounts
  • Remove users from the platform
  • Apply our three-strike policy

Serious matters may be referred to the appropriate authorities.

  1. Final note

This policy is intended to provide guidance and set expectations. It does not replace parental responsibility, professional judgement, or emergency services.

By using My Wedding and Event Sitter, all users agree to act responsibly and in the best interests of children and one another.
